It’s not difficult to find good tower speakers, but with so many options to choose from it is not always easy to decide which set of speakers is right for your situation. Here is our guide to the best tower speakers that money can buy.
How do you decide which of the best tower speakers are right for you? There is no definitive answer. Some points to consider are:
- Your Available Space. Don’t buy big speakers unless you have somewhere to put them. If your space is limited you may want to consider a smaller or slimline speaker to avoid buying an expensive piece of equipment that is going to be in the way wherever you put it.
- Whether You Need to Buy a Sub-Woofer. Some speakers sound better with a sub-woofer, for others the built-in speaker components will be sufficient. This may also depend on the size of your room, and the bass levels you are comfortable with.
- Your Listening Habits. Any of the speakers here will provide you with a good sound quality. Some of the best tower speakers may be better suited to different types of music, while others will provide more bass than others.

Reviews of the Top Rated Tower Speakers
These are an excellent choice for any audio set-up. Their price would suggest they are intended as a budget purchase but these are quite possibly the best tower speakers you can buy at any price. The speakers are tall and weigh almost 50lb each, the build quality of these speakers is amazing. They feature a great looking vinyl veneer which even includes realistic wood grain indentation. The speaker screen is removable and demonstrates the high quality workmanship which goes into each of these solid speakers. They even feature gold plated cable connectors to provide the best possible transmission.
In terms of sound quality you can’t go far wrong with these tower speakers. Like all speakers these do take a few hours to break-in so allow around ten hours before attempting to judge the sound you are hearing.
When I tested these speakers I noted that bass was excellent, certainly not overbearing but perfect for my needs. You could obtain a separate sub-woofer to operate with these speakers but I don’t believe this is necessary. I found the low-frequency extension provided by the built-in sub-woofer to be more than adequate for everything I wanted.
Overall I was very impressed with the fidelity of the sound produced for vocals, instruments, and everything I tried. I would recommend these tower speakers to everyone.
At first sight the most obvious characteristic of the Polk RTi A7 is its size. It measures 42.25×8.875×17.875 inches and weighs an impressive 55 pounds. The material quality of the speakers is clearly shown in every element of the design. It comes across in everything from the 5-way gold plated binding posts to the real-wood veneer side panels.
The A7 combines traditional speaker technology with the best results of scientific research to produce a sound quality which exceeds user expectations.
The A7 takes the traditional approach of having the midrange and the tweeter occupy the same airspace as the remainder of the design, but then Polk have supplemented this by adding a front port which employs their own Acoustic Resonance Control (ARC). This patented Polk technology helps to clarify the mid range of the sound by streamlining the airflow, the technology relies on laser interferometry research which uses real time analysis of the surface of the vibrating driver to determine the optimum combinational of materials for product.
Another way in which Polk employs technology is with its DAHLI (Damped Asymmetric Hex Laminate Isolation) technology which braces the speaker cabinet using a six-layer laminate with five viscous layers to cancel internal resonances and quiet the enclosure.
The resulting sound is sharp and has plenty of body. It performs well on all ranges with good balance. It distinguishes itself particularly well at high volume. The only point to note is that the sound quality tends to degrade close to walls, so you will need to locate this speaker somewhere with sufficient room.
This solidly constructed tower speakers would make a fine addition to any audio system, and are available at a very reasonable price. They are a great entry-level product that punches well above what you would expect for the price. They are large, but well built and would complement any room with sufficient space.
The sound reproduction is beautiful and crisp. The high sounds can be distinguished clearly, while the mid ranges do an excellent job with vocals. Bass sound is also excellent, but depending on the size of your room you may want to consider investing in a separate sub-woofer if you are particularly fond of a rumble with your bass.
For this review the speakers were tested with a variety of different types of music including, Pianos, Vocals, Trance, and Bass. The sound quality throughout was clear, sharp, and well-balanced. It allowed you to hear every detail of the music. For the price of these speakers I think it would be hard to find a better product. Their design is simple, yet sturdy, and the sound quality is truly amazing.
